January 31, 2024

February is American Heart Month, and the activities kick off on February 2nd with National Wear Red Day. Wear red to raise awareness about cardiovascular disease and help save lives. Join us in raising awareness of the number one cause of death of women—cardiovascular disease.

Consider these statistics provided by the American Heart Association:

  • Nearly 45% of women ages 20 and older are living with some form of cardiovascular disease.
  • Less than half of women entering pregnancy in the U.S. have optimal cardiovascular health.
  • Women experience unique life stages, such as pregnancy and menopause, that can increase their risk for CVD.

Stay tuned for more heart health information in your Benefit Basics program throughout February.
In the meantime, visit WearRedDay.org or Heart.org to learn more.
